I am obsessed with eyelashes. Having tried countless products from lash serums to mascaras, I’ve got several must-haves that never let me down – and a few tips to keep your lashes in tip top shape!
The first thing I’ll mention is being gentle with your lashes. No ripping off falsies with glue or scrubbing off difficult mascaras. Pump some oil onto a warm washcloth, and gently dissolve stubborn eye makeup. This first piece of advice is paramount to maintaining any growth you may experience from using a lash serum.
Now, on to the good stuff! I am asked multiple times per week if I use anything on my lashes to make them longer and if I do what it is. Each night, during my nightly skincare routine I apply a thin swipe of Rapid Lash Enhancing Serum. It’s not the cleanest formula per say (it contains isopropyl cloprostenate) but it doesn’t cause any irritation on my eyelids the way that Rodan + Fields did. My eyelashes aren’t particularly long naturally, so using a serum like this one makes a huge difference. And as a beauty blogger, I love having long eyelashes!
Now that my lashes are long enough to touch my brow bone, I have to wear smudge-proof mascaras. It’s a difficult task finding mascaras that don’t budge, and that’s before factoring in things like heat and sweaty workouts! I’ve narrowed it down to my top 3 favorites.
– Sappho New Paradigm Vegan Black Mascara
I could write a full love story about this mascara, but I’ll hit the high notes here. It wears all day without a single transfer mark, even in hot weather or tough workouts. The plastic brush does a fantastic job of separating and defining the lashes, the formula is a rich black color as well as lengthening. It builds easily, and washes off without requiring any tugging, too. This is my ideal mascara.
Before trying the Sappho Mascara, this was my absolute favorite mascara. It’s definitely on par with the Sappho in terms of looks, and the formula feels a little thicker in my opinion. By the end of the day I usually have a tiny bit of smudging, but it’s definitely not enough to deter me from wearing it! This is a gorgeous mascara for bold lashes.
This is by far the most budget friendly of the 3, and it wears fantastically thanks to the primer attached to the opposite side of the mascara. This one also smudges a teensy bit on me by the end of the day but it’s a solid and affordable choice for volumized, look at me lashes. This is definitely the most volumizing of the 3, so if that’s something you’re looking for then this will be your best pick.
I also am a firm believer in using an eyelash curler, so the Kevyn Aucoin lash curler is my go to. It keeps a curl all day without pinching my eyelids or crimping (and breaking) my eyelashes off. While this lash curler is more expensive, it will definitely last for years to come.
And those are all my lash secrets!
