Rahua is rainforest grown goodness, bottled. The primary ingredient – the ungurahua nut – comes from the Amazon rainforest and is harvested by indigenous people.
I love floral scents so when I initially smelt Rahua’s Color Full Shampoo and Conditioner, I fell in love. It’s a beautiful clean gardenia scent. This lathers well, but it isn’t the most bubbly shampoo which if you’ve switched to natural shampoos already it won’t be much of a surprise. It’s definitely a hydrating shampoo – aloe is one of the top ingredients. It also contains buriti oil which is high in vitamins A, C, and E as well as the brands namesake, rahua oil. The conditioner also adds the perfect amount of slip to the hair and leaves it feeling soft and silky.
After 27 years of having straight hair, it became wavy after having my first baby. Instead of fighting it by blowdrying and flat ironing, I decided to embrace this newfound movement by razor cutting it and using a curl cream.
Rahua has the most perfect Curl Styler that I’ve ever used! I mean it. As a hairdresser, I’ve used a wide variety of curl products, and this is my favorite by a long shot. I definitely don’t have curls, but a very soft wave. This formula contains hydrating shea butter and aloe, and molasses to add a little control and hold to the hair. After applying a pump of this cream, gently ‘scrunching’ with my hands and diffusing, my wave is much tighter than when I don’t use it! It also knocks out the typical frizz associated with my texture leaving me with soft, beachy waves. Um, THANK YOU RAHUA. As long as I am wearing my hair wavy, I do not want to be without this! Please don’t ever stop making it!
The Leave in Treatment is like a palo santo butter spread for your hair. Soft, delicious, and adds the perfect hydration for parched strands with quinoa which aids in the retention of moisture. It also has bountiful antioxidants thanks to green tea extract and red raspberry leaf to provide protection and anti-aging properties. It smooths flyaways and adds the perfect amount of sheen without feeling like ‘product’ in the hair. The directions say to use in wet hair and activate with heat: applying it in this manner sort of melts it and pushes it further into the hair making it like a deep conditioning treatment. I actually love using it in dry hair, too! It’s the perfect finishing product for reducing frizz and keeping the hair looking healthy and supple. Just a dab is all you need for silky soft hair.
The Medium Hold Hairspray is a wonderful product to add some extra body to the hair while giving a true medium hold. This doesn’t weigh the hair down or feel sticky, despite being made with sugarcane. It’s great for enhancing and holding texture while allowing the hair to move naturally. It’s also hydrating thanks to aloe. I love using it on my waves and lifting sections while I spray to add some extra lift throughout my layers.
Between the comforting and grounding scent of palo santo, and the hydrating rahua oil, Rahua Organic hair products hold a special place in my heart and my hair care routine!
Rahua is vegan and cruelty free, free of silicones and parabens, gluten free (utilizes quinoa instead), color safe, and pH balanced.
