As a licensed hairdresser, and I’ll admit, an absolute product junkie, you know I’ve tried a lot of products over the years; and not just on my own hair. I’ve worked with every texture you can think of (personally? I LOVE uber curly hair; alas I was blessed with very very straight hair).
Given the texture of my own hair, finding products that give it enough moisture but don’t weigh it down can be challenging. My hair is fine, straight, color treated, and has styling tools used on it weekly: the latter two which cause damage. Finding products that not only moisturize and give some volume (typically contradicting issues in the hair world) but also protect my hair from damage are my top priorities…tall order, right?
These two products make ALL the difference in the world for my hair. Post-shampoo, I always spritz in the SmartVolume Leave-in Conditioner* (note: the volumizing line now has a pink label instead of the teal). This leave-in protects hair from heat and UV damage by using a variety of oils. When I’m looking for some extra shine or I’m going to blow dry, I use the SuperFinish Polishing Balm*, which utilizes ingredients like jojoba oil, soy bran lipids, and hydrolyzed silk. I’ll even use it once my hair is dry to tame flyaways. By the way…the Polishing Balm smells amazing!
This duo manages to give my hair volume and shine without weighing it down or making it feel oily or ‘product-y’, which I find pretty incredible given how many oils are actually in both of these! I like my hair to feel and move like hair-so anything that makes it feel stiff or starchy is off my list.
