Glossier Play Nite Shine

Glossier: the brand that doesn’t get enough credit in the clean beauty space. It isn’t touted as clean beauty per say, but most of their formulas rank low in the EWG database. It is not super natural necessarily, however their products are high performance. I love Glossier’s concept of letting your natural beauty shine and the general simplistic no-fuss nature of their products.

Glossier launched a second brand, Glossier Play. It’s the punched-up sister company of Glossier, meant for more colorful and dramatic looks. In true Glossier form though, none of the products require massive amounts of skill to apply, yet yield high impact results. In this launch, they released a high shine lipgloss, glitter pots, eyeliners, and a highlighter concentrate.

The Nite Shine Highlighting concentrate is what caught my eye. I plugged all of the ingredients into the EWG Skindeep Database and was pleased that nothing was high scoring so I bought it on the launch day. (Everything scores between a 1 and 2, only titanium dioxide is higher listing a range between 1-3. It’s also one of the last ingredients). Within just a few short days, I received the oh so coveted pink bubble mailer.

I chose the shade Platinum Rose which looks like rose gold. I have so many champagne or bright silvery highlighters, so this is the perfect alternative! When I first opened the little box it came in, the bottle reminded me of oldschool Bonnebell nailpolishes (hey nostalgia). I was actually surprised because the bottle was smaller than I expected, but with the description of highlighter concentrate I was hopeful the formula would be super potent and not watered down.

And highlighting concentrate it is! Just a few dots yield a Gisele worthy glow. This is the perfect shade for me. The rosy undertone adds some warmth and depth to my skin and the pearlescent glow is just beyond gorgeous. This can be layered as the texture is silky and lightweight, but even just a few dabs is more than enough for gleaming cheeks (or collarbones or wherever you apply it).

I love the texture of this; thanks squalane! It applies bright and almost metallic when I use my fingers, and much softer and muted when buffed out with a brush. The color is the perfect pinky gold hue. This is a new staple in my makeup kit. LOVE it.
