It’s no secret that I’m a serial hair abuser. I color every 4-6 weeks, and I typically heat style multiple times per week. Both of those habits can wreak havoc on delicate hair, which mine is quite fine in texture. I do my best to do weekly treatments, but still my hair is dry-natured.
That’s where hair oils come in. I’m a longtime fan of oiling my hair, often performing DIY coconut oil treatments, and dabbing on a little to the ends of my hair once dry. I recently won a bottle of the Antonin B. Paris Desert Serum and I was thrilled a) because I never win anything in giveaways, and b) because I know my hair will drink this up!
The first ingredient is desert date oil, which I have never heard of before! Upon further research, I learned this oil was prized in ancient Egypt for it’s hydrating abilities in harsh climates as well as hair strengthening capabilities. It’s high in essential fatty acids, vitamin E, and minerals. The top majority of the oils in this blend are all high in omega and linoleic fatty acids, making this a great alternative to silicone laden hair serums! While silicones smooth the hair and give it shine, they tend to weigh the hair down in the form of build up. They also don’t do much to improve the health of the hair the way these oils do. I also personally find that going silicone-free preserves the life of my styles; my hair doesn’t get dirty as quickly meaning i can go longer in between washes! Helloooooo less heat damage! These oils work from the inside out, reviving the hair and adding moisture rather than coating it.
There are several essential oils added as well; ylang ylang in particular stands out to me because it’s known for adding shine to the hair, as well as adding a delicate floral scent. I would describe the overall scent as ylang and lemon; pleasant and uplifting but not overpowering.
I apply a drop or two while my hair is wet before styling, and then once my hair is dry add another 2 drops. It leaves my hair silky soft, as well as killing all the frizz. While my hair is naturally straight, it tends to get a fuzzy halo effect as the day goes on. This puts an end to that. Frizz. Killer. Also, despite this being pure oil, my hair doesn’t feel weighed down. I adore this hair oil!
*Please note, I won this product in a giveaway. Simply sharing because it’s awesome.
